Even before magic shows have been performed on stage and in other
prearranged venues, people have already seen wonderful feats in the
streets where the action is raw, spontaneous, fascinating, and
mystifying. You will never see too much props, sets, and other gimmicks
such as pulsating background music or sexy magic assistants that will
divert your attention from focusing on the real part of the show. Street
magicians are all over the streets in many places across the globe;
however, there are only a few that have gained the fame of being
included in the top 10 best street magicians in the world.
10. Kozmo
His way of performing street magic is different in terms of
attracting people and keeping them hooked with the magic shows he
performs. His charm is different from the rest because he uses both
magic and showmanship when he puts up his show on the streets.
9. Gazzo
A ball and cup routine may be commonplace these days, however, when
Gazzo does this classic trick, he gives it a whole new perspective. Who
could think that something so old can still bring out new tricks? After
all, his 25 years of experience in this medium has resulted to
extraordinary tricks.
8. Derren Brown
Performing street magic is usually unstaged, unprepared, and
impromptu. This is where Derren Brown is good at where he uses mind
control to make people think and see things that cannot be comprehended
by a normal way of thinking.
7. David Groves
His experience is kinda unique, considering that he focused on his
street magic when he ventured into Vanuatu and discovered that people
who are not familiar with new tricks can always be attracted for a good
show. He has performed some tricks like making money appear inside a
melon when cutting it in two, picking coins from the air, and making
balls vanish into one hand and coming out from another person.
6. Dai Vernon
When there are no props or sets to use in a street magic scenario,
one of the most trusted friends is the sleight of hand, combined with
wit and finesse. This is where Dai Vernon has been noted for, whether it
involves cards, coins, balls, cups, and even the Chinese linking rings.
5. Jeff Sheridan
Known to be David Blaine’s mentor, he is up to the title as he became
one of the first street magicians to conquer New York City. He has made
it a trend to just walk on the street, call on any people, and perform
magic as if it has been practiced for centuries.
4. Cyril Takayama
His kind of street magic may be thought of as a trick for people who
have untrained eyes as making his head fall of his shoulders can be
considered more of a contraption. However, that is the wonder of his
magic.
3. David Copperfield
Despite he is labeled as an illusionist more than a magician, David
Copperfield has always been remembered by many people around the world
as he created tricks that involve walking on the other side of the Great
Wall without using tools, making the Statue of Liberty disappear into
thin air, and others.
2. Criss Angel
When he appeared in the TV show Criss Angel Mindfreak, he performed
some of the feats that David Blaine had done, such as levitating.
However, he has made it extreme when levitating in between two high
buildings. He has even walked on the wall of Luxor going up with no
support, and even letting himself rolled by a steamroller while lying
down on a bed of broken glass.
1. David Blaine
Who could ever forget tricks such as using cards and imprinting the
taken card into the chest, the levitation effect, or the endurance of
being buried alive for seven days without food or drink? He is the guy
that gave a different light to magic when he was featured in a street
magic show in 1997.
