10. Karan Johar
Karan Johar- who is not familiar with this name in the industry? Being the son of Late Jash Johar was not enough for this young man, so he made his own mark in the industry by giving Indian cinema some of the greatest blockbusters, which has given the present Indian cinema a new direction. It is a well known fact that before shifting to directions, Karan Johar debuted as an actor in the all time greatest hit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1995 and then made his debut film Kuch Kuch Hota he in 1998, which in turn was a huge hit and still rules the heart of the fans of Bollywood cinema. He is also known to have taken Horror cinema to a great height, as far as commercial success is concerned. However, he was an outsider when he first began filmmaking as he did not have any conventional degree in film making neither he belonged to the industry, he was just a video store owner. 8. Rakesh Roshan
the son of late Roshan ,the brother of great music director of Rajesh Roshan and the proud father of Hrittik Roshan, the great producer, director Rakesh Roshan is one of the leading directors that Indian Film Industry has as of today. A man of many talents, he debuted as an actors in the 70’s and acted in more than 70 films before he turned to direction and then set up his production company and under the banner of his company gave birth to several box office hits such Khoon Bhari Maang, Kishan Kanhaiya, Kran Arjun, Koila and many others. He launched his son Hrittik Roshan with the blockbuster hit Kaho Na Pyaar He, in 2000 and the film claimed its place in the Limca Book of Records for winning maximum number of awards that year. 7. Prakash Jha
Prakash Jha, a native of Bihar who left his unique mark in the Bollywood film Industry. He is one of the finest directors that Bollywood has today and known for making films on some of the most sensitive issues and yet turning them into commercial hits. He loves making political dramas and has won 8 National awards for films like Gangajal, Rajniti, Apaharan and others. He is one such independent filmmaker who will always be regarded for his offbeat films, which are slightly different from the main frame Hindi cinema.
6. Vidhu Vinod Chopra
The man behind the successful box office hits like, Munna Bhai MBBS, 3 idiots, Parinita and Khamosh, made his debut with Murder at Monkey Hill in 1977. Vidhu Vinod Chopra is known for taking serious issues and presents them in a comical way, which he did with Munna Bhai series and 3 Idiots. 5. Subhash Ghai
Subhash Ghai, known as the show man of Bollywood is well known for making some of the grand films, which will always be in the hearts of Bollywood fans. 4. Ashutosh Gowariker
Ashutosh Gowarikar is considered amongst some of the elite directors of Bollywood who began his career as an actors and model. He has acted in a few films and television series and also known for making grand historical films like Lagaan, which has been nominated for Oscars and Jodhaa Akbar. The director has won many Film Fare wards and National awards for his excellent creations.
3. Yash Chopra
A veteran film director and producer, Yash Chopra is one of the oldest film makers in the Bollywood industry today. 2. Raj Kapoor

A man known to make exceptional films, Guru Dutt was a man a man who had taken Indian Cinema far ahead of its time. Although he has made less than 50 films in the course of his film career, each and every film of his bore the mark of excellence and creativity.
