Online advertising networks or Ad networks allow publishers to make
money from their site. Advertising networks are companies that connect
publishers with businesses that wish to advertise on websites. The right
advertising network can help you generate substantial revenue from your
website.
Placing Ads on websites or blogs is one of the most widely used
methods for making money on the Internet. The amount of money you make
depends on many factors including popularity of your website, the number
of visitors and the niche your website targets. Smaller websites
usually rely on a number of Ad networks to increase revenue potential.
There are many online advertising networks that you can use to display
Ads on your website. They provide an effective delivery platform for
serving ads in order to generate revenue from your site. In almost all
case, there is no cost for publishers to join the Ad network, provided
they meet the pubCenter guidelines for participation.
Ten popular Advertising networks to make money from your website were
covered in an earlier article on our blog. This is an extension of the
original article and lists ten more advertising networks that you can
use to covert your website traffic to Advertising revenue.

Revenue Model:
The following revenue models are used by most of the Advertising
Networks listed here to calculate your earning from Ad placement on your
site.
CPC: Cost per click
CPM: Cost per 1000 Ad impression
CPA: Cost per action including sale, registration or form completion.
10. Microsoft Pub Centre: (CPM, CPC)
Microsoft Advertising pubCenter provides publishers access to one of
the largest networks of advertisers on the Internet. It empowers Web
site publishers and Windows Phone 7 application developers to make money
from ad placements. When users click on these ads, the website
publisher earns money from the advertiser, via Microsoft. It offers
complete control for you over how the ads look and feel.
Payments are issued either when ads are clicked or for the number of
gross impressions the ads generate on the publisher’s site. There are no
restrictions on how big or small a Web site can be, but publishers meet
the pubCenter guidelines in order to participate.
11. Buy Sell Ads – BSA
BuySellAds.com is an excellent option for blogs. It is a direct
banner selling service. The system works by adding your site and then
adding advert zones to that website making it easier for advertisers to
find you. Then you sell those ads for profit. It makes it easy to
display ads on your blog by providing you with the HTML code to insert
into your template in order for ads to display on your blog once space
is purchased by advertisers.
12. Casale Media
In order to join Casale Media, your website should meet the traffic
requirement of 10,000 distinct visitors monthly. They boast a 70% payout
to publishers which is one of the highest payouts in the industry. It
is a large well-respected advertising network.
13. Tribal Fusion
Tribal Fusion only work with high quality publishers that host highly
targeted content, professional site design, and desirable audience
compositions. Requirements include a minimum of 500,000 unique users per
month. In addition cost per 1000 impression (CPM) advertising on their
sites, they also offer in-text advertising, lead generation, performance
marketing, and high impact branding campaigns.
14. Ad Bull
AdBull offer similar CPC and CPM revenue models to most other sites
in this list. It is however unique in the way ads are served. Their
patented cursor ad unit is a unique method whereby the ad is displayed
near the user’s cursor for about 10 seconds after which it fades away.
After this the ad will not appear again for 12 hours for that unique
visitor. This is a unique way to attract visitor’s attention to your ads
without substantial interference with your content.
There are no minimum requirements for publishers and it is easy for new sites with less traffic to get accepted.
15. Kontera (CPC)
Kontera is a text link advertising program for monetising your
website. It is quite different to Adsense. Ads appear as text links
within the existing content of your website or blog. Ads appear as
highlighted keywords or links within your content that display a small
window with the ad preview when you hover over the links. The options
are limited to content link based ads only.
Some Internet Marketers and SEO experts argue that text link based
ads like Kontera can devalue your content on Google. Other negative
points are that it can increase page load times and can interfere with
your content.
16. InfoLinks (CPC)
Infolinks is another form of in-text advertising program like
Konterra. Infolinks have received good review by many site owners and
bloggers compared to its competitors. Publishers have reported of better
earnings than Konterra although not as high as Adsense. It is a good
monetising option for new web publishers and can be used along with
other advertising programs like Google Adsense and Chitika. They offer
one the highest revenue share in the industry giving publishers 70% of
the revenue earned from the ads displayed on your site.
17. Widget Bucks (CPC)
Widgetbucks create contextual ad widgets on your website and revenue
is based on CPC model i.e. you get paid when readers’ clicks on the ads.
There are no minimum requirements. You also get $25 free to join.
There are only two options available presently i.e. normal ads and
pop under ads. Normal ads ex. banner ads display only for visitors form
USA and / or Canada and some very few other countries. It may not be
that beneficial if most of your visitors do not come from these
countries.
Technically you are allowed to run Widgetbucks together with Adsense
on the same website. However I have come across blog posts that mention
otherwise. Read

18. Text Link ads
Text-Link-Ads acts as a brokering service between website owners
particularly blogs and advertisers that wish to increase traffic by
purchasing text links on other sites. Site owners can choose where to
place the links on their site e.g. sidebar, homepage or site wide. There
are many websites trying to obtain links so it is easy to sell all your
ad space.
Publishers receive 50% of all advertising revenue and get paid on the
first of each month. Publishers have complete control over what text
link ads appear on their website and where. Text Link Ads can be run
alongside other ad networks. Be careful however as Buying or selling
links that pass PageRank can be sees as violation of Google’s guidelines
and can negatively impact a site’s ranking in search results. Some
websites have reported loss of traffic from Google as a result of using
similar text brokering services although there are conflicting reports. I
personally cannot verify this as the risk is too much for me to take.
19. Commission Junction (CPA)
Commission Junction, acquired by ValueClick in 2003, is one of the
largest affiliate marketing channels on the Internet. They work with
some of the bigger brands which is beneficial for publishers as they can
promote products that are reliable and keep their websites trustworthy.
There are many types of links for the affiliates: various banners, text
links, product links, and search boxes. I have however come across some
negative reviews recently with regards to payment. Many publishers have
reported loss in earnings and payment conflicts. Read comments on this post for Commission Junction Review.
20. LinkShare (CPA)
LinkShare is primarily an Affiliate Marketing and Lead Generation
service for Publishers. A Publisher displays ads, text links, or product
links from an Advertiser in return for a commission when a sale is made
or when a lead is acquired. It can be used by established websites as
well as new blogs that are just beginning to attract an audience. The
sale can also be tied to a specific action such as filling out a form or
downloading a trial.
LinkShare has partnererd with well-known brands such as Apple, Dell
and Wal-Mart. As a member of LinkShare’s affiliate network, you have the
ability to promote products from any one of these brands.
Conclusion:
Discussed above are only some of the advertising networks that allow
you to make money from your website or blog by serving ads. In addition
to finding advertisers, they also offer a full delivery platform to
serve the ads including a dashboard from where you can access
statistics, monitor or customise the ads units and in some cases approve
or reject ads that are displayed.
