In the new version of the Windows, i.e., Windows 8
also, there is no privacy for control panel applets. The user other
then the administrator can also access to these apps. There should be
strict privacy or this problem. Any user of that computer can access to
these applets so it is not secure. So, looking all here is a trick by
which you hide these apps from the user other than the administrator.
Follow the following steps to do so.
Follow these steps to hide your apps -
- First log in as the administrator.
- Now, go to the start screen and type the "gpedit.msc" and click on the 'Apps' on the right sidebar. It will open the 'Local Group Policy Editor'.
- Expand the 'User Configuration' and access to Administrative Templates >> Control Panel. Here you will see the 'Hide Specific Control Panel Items'.
- Double-click on it and check for the enabled option. You have to confirm which is to be hidden.
- First, tick on the 'Enabled' and then click on 'Show', it will open the names which is to be hidden.
- Suppose, if you want to restrict the users from accessing the 'Personalization settings' so enter 'Microsoft.Personalization' and then click "OK".
- Now close the 'Local Group Policy Editor' your changes could be seen when you open to these one.
