Fall or autumn is the time
of the year where nature is at its mid-perfect state. It is neither too
cold like winter nor too warm like summer. This is when leaves fall
down, trees change in color, and celebrations spent so well. Let us see
what fun activities can be done at this time of the year.
10. Boating or kayaking
It may be unlikely to stretch some time to
spend moments on the water in autumn, but many sailors actually
recommend doing some boating or kayaking at this time of the year.
Others may think of fog, but staying on water while the sun shines is
perfect because of the crisp cool air being felt on the atmosphere. Also
winds are much reliable and stable, which makes the season very hot for
power boaters and gaming sailors.
9. Fly a kite
Aside from the cooler temperatures and the
friendlier hazy weather, another natural gift that is enjoyed in this
season is the generous blow of wind experienced at any time of the day.
With winds blowing strong at early afternoons to early evenings, it
provides the perfect setting for flying kites of different sizes,
styles, and colors. You may spend it with your kids and other family
members, spending some quality time. You will not worry with burning
your skin all afternoon, as the breeze is cold and cozy.
8. Raking leaves
As the temperature drops down, leaves on
many trees are falling down, preparing themselves for the colder embrace
of winter. As these leaves fall, people find cleaning this mess, a
tough job to do. Others are quite upset as this yearly stress, while
there are a few that looks at this time as having fun. Kids and those
who are young at heart would rake these leaves as hard as they could.
And when they have finished their chores, which is sometimes a father
and son affair, they both lie down on the leaves for a few minutes,
feeling the fruits of their labors.
7. Make pickled vegetables
At the time of the year where most fruits,
root crops, and vegetables are picked, it has been a tradition to pickle
some crops and preserve it for the colder times of the year, such as in
late autumn to the rest of the winter season. The most famous pickles
are made of cucumbers. They are usually soaked in vinegar, chili
peppers, and in sugary brines. Other veggies and fruits such as carrots,
celery, beets, cauliflowers, and others can also be used.
6. Spending evenings on campfires
This may be attributed to summer days where
evening campers enjoy being on the outdoors, burning marshmallows, and
singing songs encircled on a bonfire. It could be an ideal setting, but
you can also do the same thing in the fall. Make sure however, that you
wear your cold clothing such as mittens, scarves, and beanies while
enjoying this evening activity with family or friends.
5. Reach the top of a mountain or hill
Imagine the scene of looking at nature in
wide scale, and seeing the gradual change of green trees into shades of
orange, red, brown, or darker yellow, all seen in front of your eyes.
When you look at it on a lower plain, you may appreciate seeing one tree
or two, changing shades. But if you climb on top of a mountain or a
hill on a place where there are a lot of trees, then you can see the
marvelous transformation of so many flora and trees.
4. Collect and carve pumpkins
With Halloween celebrated in this season,
pumpkins are an ordinary part of the celebration. However, there is
always something special in collecting your own set of pumpkins and
carving it for your own. Aside from improving your talent in carving, it
also gives you that sense of feeling the true Halloween spirit. You may
just use them as candle containers, or have it carried by a kid for
trick or treating.
3. Try Geocaching
Geocaching is a new activity that is taking
the world by storm. With the use of GPS devices, you will embark in an
adventure where you will locate a geocache (container) very close to the
coordinates being pointed by the device. This modern age of treasure
hunting is perfect in autumn, especially with the time, weather, and
temperature, making every condition suitable for outdoor fun.
2. Pick apples from the tree
Known to be the season of apples, autumn is
the best time to pick apples from the tree and making various treats
out of it. Sure, adults can pick these things easy with tools that they
can carry easily. However, kids are likely to have fun in this activity.
1. Go to National Parks and take a walk or a hike
The cold breeze, crisp air, and the
wonderful sunshine is what makes autumn the perfect time of the year for
taking a hike outdoors, enjoying every inch of nature changing its
colors. Spending time with family, friends, and loved ones in national
parks is fun and healthy time.
