How To Easily Take Ownership Of any File or Folder in Windows

If you are want to replace or edit any Windows File,then you will get an error that you have no right to do that,and your task fails.If you want to Edit any Windows file then first of all you have to take ownership of it.There are many methods by which you can take ownership of Windows Files.



Below is the manual method by which you can Take ownership of any file without,any registry editing.
How to "Take Ownership" Of any File or Folder in Windows
  • First of all Go to the location of the file or Folder which you want to take ownership.
  • No Right Click on the File or Folder and Choose "Properties" to open Properties Dialog box.
  • In Properties Dialog Box,click on the "Security" Tab and select your username from the list of "Group or user Names:"

  • Now click on the "Advanced" and Go to the "Owner" Tab.

  • Click on the "Edit" Button,and select your user name from the "Change Owner to" section.
  • Now Click on "Apply" button.It will ask for Confirmation,Just Click on "OK" button.
  • Now close the Dialog box and go back to "Security" tab of Properties window.
  • Click on your User name from the "Group or user names" section
  • Now in the new window,select your User name and click on the "Allow" box for "Full Control" option.

  • After doing that click on "Apply" and it will ask for confirmation,Simply say "Yes"
  • Now you can do,what ever you want with this file or folder,because now you are it's owner..
